Cristina and Pablo held the most beautiful wedding on a private hacienda on the outskirts of Bogota. She shared with me, “the vision for their wedding was a juxtaposition of new and old, rustic but elegant, sophisticated but down-to-earth, Cristina describes. Pablo and I are both old souls so I really wanted to encapsulate a sense of nostalgia. A 200+ year old venue with the perfect patina, a vintage peignoir set to get ready, my aunt’s Chantilly lace wedding veil from Cuba, my grandmother’s blue topaz ring and my mother’s reworked wedding dress helped achieve this. As a designer, I wanted to make sure that every element, even the fashion, followed the overarching narrative. It was important to me that everything make sense in the space.”
For her wedding gown, she knew she wanted something timeless but interesting and modern. “When I saw my dress at Danielle Frankel’s atelier I was blown away by the pleating- it was almost architectural and the perfect contrast to the organic landscape. The bodice was nostalgic but the pleats were so original – it was like no wedding dress I had seen before. I paired the dress with pointy silk Manolo Blahnik heels from their collaboration with Danielle, a pale blue The Row mini ascot bag, and vintage pearl/diamond posts.”
For their welcome party, Cristina and Pablo hosted a western chic Asado at La Picaderia which you can view here.
